CS 524 – Visualization and Visual Analytics II
This semester I have registered for Visualization and Visual Analytics II taught by Prof. Andy Johnson.
I will keep the site updated with all the visualizations I create for the class.
Site back up
The a2hosting site was hacked and because of my quals,I had no time to get it back up.
Fortunately I passed my qualifiers, went for a nice recharging vacation in Greece and now am back in Chicago. Site is up again and today is the second day of the spring semester!
CS Qualifiers
During the past month I have been studying for my PhD qualifiers. The site is still in “beta” but since I do not have available time, you will not see any major updates in the next 2 months.
Transformers 3 filming in Chicago
Decepticons and Transformers were chasing each other on Michigan Avenue, surrounded by explosions, fireballs and stuntmen jumping off helicopters and the Trump Tower.
Here is a small wreckage I found from the set with a CTA bus setting on top of it.
First Thunderstorm in Chicago
3 days ago I went through my first major thunderstorm in Chicago!

Since I am not used to this kind of weather, it was kind of weird! We had winds of 40mph and were under a tornado watch. In the Loop the sirens were activated and people went into basements. Some windows of the Willis Tower broke because of the high winds and the surrounding blocks were sealed.
Finally the thunderstorm passed without any major incidents and there actually was a tornado touchdown after the thunderstorm moved east, in Indiana.
New Template
Weeks have passed without any major contribution to the development of my own wordpress theme.
The development itself is not so difficult, while the web design portion is kinda of tricky since I am not an Illustrator or Photoshop expert. Until I actually learn how to use those tools, I decided to stick on a free template. I think I like this template, it’s easy to follow. If I get good feedback, I will keep it! My next updates will include filling up the empty pages and standardizing – configuring this theme.

In the following days – weeks the site may appear “weird”. I am in the process of transitioning/developing a new theme, so please be patient!
I will try to get it up and running as soon as I can!
New Template
I have just updated my template with the Neutica. I liked it, because it resembles a mini-magazine style. I will also add more information and update my portfolio during this week.
